Administrative & Research Assistant
Friends of the Children of King County seeks a Part-Time Administrative & Research Assistant (24 to 30 hours per week) to support the longitudinal study on Friends of the Children by Oregon Social Learning Center (OSLC). Principally, this position is responsible for gathering and submitting child, family and school information, and other relevant documentation, in coordination with Program Director. This position is also the first point of contact for people interested in learning more about the organization, and handles general administrative duties to support program services. Reports to Executive Director.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Gather and submit data and coordinate research project activities for the program.
- Assist the research team with: tracking research participants, and gathering information and documentation from schools on participating children; participate in research team meetings.
- Support fundraising efforts by drafting gift acknowledgement letters, preparing mass mailings, and performing data entry and data queries.
- Handle general office tasks, such as handling phone inquiries, processing mail, correspondence, ordering supplies, and filing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience, Skills, Education and Knowledge:
- Completion of two years of college required.
- A minimum of two years of administrative and/or customer service experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal communication skills, and experience working with diverse constituencies.
- Must be a motivated self-initiator, problem-solver, and able to work with limited supervision.
- Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. Must adhere to research protocols.
- Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail and accuracy.
- Highly organized and dependable; able to prioritize work and adapt to shifting demands and work situations, maintain composure under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to travel locally and adapt schedule to meet program needs, (i.e., some evenings and weekends).
Preferred Experience, Skills, Education and Knowledge:
- Basic knowledge of non-profit fundraising and events.
- Donor database experience, Salesforce preferred.
- Experience utilizing web-based e-news tool and updating web page using a content management system, Word Press preferred.
- Experience working with children.
- Maintain flexibility and a sense of humor.

Compensation: $14 to $16 per hour, depending on experience. Medical, dental, and vision insurance available for employee and family (employer covers 60% of premium for employee coverage). Vacation and sick leave.
